I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist and a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). With a Masters degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy I am informed by a range of different theoretical insights including Person-Centred, CBT and Psychodynamic. This means I can adapt your sessions based not only on what is important to you as an individual, but also using the language and approach that supports your way of understanding.
Prior to qualifying, I have over 12 years’ experience within the voluntary sector through a range of paid and voluntary roles both on the front line and in senior management. The last seven years have been focused on supporting adults suffering with a variety of mental health concerns, through both one-to-one support and developing support groups and programmes to help improve general wellbeing. Within this role I have managed and supported diverse teams through periods of intense change, whilst ensuring individuals who are most in need of help are able to access this through a plan that is tailored to them.
In addition, I have experience developing and managing mental health programmes for individuals working within blue light emergency services. With a focus on early intervention and adapting support to individuals needs and experiences.
This experience has been invaluable in helping me to understand that life can throw us unexpected challenges and that the impact of these may be immediately felt, but they could also crop up many months or years later. Our past experiences can intertwine with our family dynamics and current lifestyle to shape our perception of emotions and the situations we find ourselves in. These emotions can at times feel confusing and hard to put into words. Sometimes seeping out into other areas such as our physical wellbeing and how we interact with others. Sometimes this can be felt through depression and anxiety, whilst other times it may be through not being able to sleep or finding things, we previously enjoyed, more challenging.
In order to help facilitate a greater understanding of yourself, I recognise the importance and benefit of a non-judgemental and relational approach that gradually builds trust and is focused around your experience as an individual.
I am a registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) Membership no. 395705
